Juuso Nordgren

Juuso Nordgren was born on 19 November 1996 in Karkkila, Finland. Rally fans may recognize this as the hometown of rally legend Markku Alén, who was World Rally Champion in 1978.

Like many children from this part of the world, Juuso grew up playing ice hockey and loving rallying. His father was also a rally driver, so it was not long before Jusso too was swapping his ice skates for four wheels.

His first steps into the world of motorsport were in karting and in 2011 he finished second in the Finnish Karting Championship.

2014 - 2016

Jusso took part in his first rally in 2014 when he competed at the Peurunkaralli. In that debut season, he was already enjoying success, winning three rallies in his class and claiming three more podium places.

His 2015 season was even more successful with Juuso being crowned Finnish Junior Rally Champion. The season saw him claim the first overall victories of his career at the Peurunkaralli and the Rantaralli. He also entered the Finnish Rally Championship for the first time in 2015. His first outing in that competition came at the Pirelli Ralli Tampere where he finished an impressive eighth overall and third in the SM3 class.

His career continued to flourish in 2016, with the organiser of the Rally Finland awarding Jusso the prestigious title of Future Rally Star of Finland, which comes with the prize of a fully-funded drive at the Finnish round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). Therefore, his debut drive in the WRC came at the 2016 Rally Finland where he put in another impressive drive, finishing third in the RC3 class as well as in the WRC3 category. He followed that up with his first ever drive outside Finland at the Rally Catalunya.

In the 2016 Finnish Rally Championship, Juuso won three rallies in the SM3 class on his way to a second position in the final standings of the SM3 class.

2017 - 2018

In 2017, Jusso switched to 4WD cars for the first time, driving a ŠKODA FABIA R5 run by the TGS Worldwide team in the Finnish Championship. He saw immediate results, finishing second overall at both the Riihimäki-Ralli and SM O.K. Auto-Ralli.

At the 2017 Rally Finland, Juuso competed in the WRC2 championship for the first time. Despite it being just his fourth ever rally in a 4WD car, he excelled, winning four special stages and finishing ninth in the WRC2 standings.

Later that year, he was picked up by ŠKODA Motorsport team and given the opportunity to drive a works FABIA R5 at the both the Rally Catalunya and Wales Rally GB. The former was his first ever rally alongside co-driver Tapio Suominen. He managed a top 5 finish at both events, which provided a fitting end to a very memorable season.

In 2018, Juuso Nordgren has been driving a FABIA R5 alongside co-driver Tapio Suominen for ŠKODA Motorsport at the selected rounds of the WRC2 championship.
