To mark its 130th anniversary, Škoda Auto has prepared a truly special birthday present — the Fabia 130, a sporty edition of the brand’s popular hatchback that delivers even more driving fun and power than ever before.

The Škoda Fabia has been a staple of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker's lineup for four generations. During this time, it has also served as the basis for the exceptional competition specials produced by Škoda Motorsport. The Fabia competition model has competed in the WRC, S2000, R5, and currently Rally2 categories. Hundreds of drivers have taken the wheel, including legends such as Colin McRae and, during the Race of Champions exhibition, Formula 1 stars Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.

Currently, the Fabia RS Rally2 is collecting laurels around the world, continuing the successful tradition of competition specials from the Mladá Boleslav brand. Among them, the Škoda 130 RS, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, holds a special place. The competitive DNA of these specials is now being transferred to series production in the new Škoda Fabia 130. It is based on the 4th generation hatchback but adds a number of modifications that make the Fabia 130 a true sports car for everyday use.

More power, more fun

The most striking change in the technical specifications is the increased power output. The 1.5 TSI evo2 four-cylinder engine has been tuned to deliver 130 kW — 20 kW more than the previous top version. As a result, the Fabia 130 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 228 km/h, making it the fastest production Fabia ever built.

The engine also offers improved mid-range flexibility and a more responsive throttle. The seven-speed DSG transmission has been newly calibrated to deliver quicker shifts and enhance driver engagement. The chassis and steering have been upgraded to match the higher performance. As in the Monte Carlo version, the suspension is lowered by 15 mm, improving both stability and precision.

The steering has been fine-tuned for greater accuracy and quicker response. Engineers have also reworked the ASR system, which can now be fully deactivated via the infotainment system, or set to ASR Sport mode for later ESC interventions. This allows enthusiasts to explore the Fabia 130’s full potential on closed circuits.

Sporty flair

In addition to the technical improvements that enhance driving enjoyment, the Fabia 130 features numerous design elements emphasizing its sporty nature. These include a new front bumper extension, rear spoiler, and 18-inch LIBRA alloy wheels with a smoked finish. Other distinctive details include dual exhaust outlets, red brake callipers, a black decorative rear foil, and “130” badges on the front fenders. The model also sports unique darkened Bi-LED headlights.

Inside, the front passengers are welcomed by sports seats with integrated headrests, while silver trim elements adorn the dashboard and door panels. Illuminated door sills with the Fabia 130 logo greet the crew upon entry.

The new edition will be available in four body colours — white, red, blue, and black. This special model will be produced in limited numbers, with the first units scheduled to reach customers by the end of December this year.
