An important event in the Belgian National Championship, but above all a newcomer to the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar. The Renties Ypres Rally Belgium offered spectators over 300 sharp kilometres that were a big unknown for most crews. This time, the WRC2 category was without Andreas Mikkelsen and his teammate Marco Bulacia, so the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 and Rally2 evo cars were fighting for the best possible position primarily in the WRC3 category. The favorites to win were mainly the local drivers, but the competition was really big. The Belgian crew of Sébastien Bedoret/Gilbert François (ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo) and Yohan Rossel/Alexandre Coriae (Citroën C3 Rally2) were in a tight battle for the first place. But time penalty put an end to the tug-of-war for the first place and the Belgians ended up in 5th place. However the second place went to the crew of Pieter-Jan-Michiel Cracco/Jasper Vermeulen in the ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo, who were also the fastest in the Belgian National Championship.
