RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada, the twelfth round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) 2016, takes place in Spain this weekend (13th to 16th October). It is a unique event on the WRC calendar, as it is the only one on mixed surfaces, with the 19 stages including both gravel and asphalt, as the drivers tackle 321 km of competitive distance.

The rally has been a happy hunting ground for ŠKODA Motorsport in recent times too, with Pontus Tidemand and Jan Kopecký leading home a ‘1-2-3-4’ finish for FABIA R5s in the WRC2 classification last year. Both drivers are back this year too. Tidemand, along with his co-driver Jonas Andersson, is hoping to repeat his victory last season, while Kopecký and his co-driver Pavel Dresler are looking to continue the good form, which saw them finish 2nd in WRC2 category at the recent Tour de Corse and also clinch the Czech Rally Championship title.
