    WRC Germany: Kopecký leads Tidemand after the first leg

    ŠKODA Motorsport crews Jan Kopecký / Pavel Dresler and Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson are holding a double lead after the opening day of ADAC Rallye Deutschland. Already on Thursday evening on the opening street stage in Saarbrücken Czech Rally Champion Kopecký wrote history: After the ŠKODA FABIA R5 driver won the first stage, for the first time ever a WRC2 car took the overall lead of a World Championship rally. During Friday Kopecký defended his lead in the WRC2 category with 5.8 seconds ahead of teammate Pontus Tidemand. If the result is the same at the finish on Sunday, ŠKODA Motorsport’s Swede would prematurely secure his World Champion title in WRC2.

    WRC Germany: ŠKODA Motorsport and Pontus Tidemand with match point for title win

    ŠKODA Motorsport crews Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson and Jan Kopecký / Pavel Dresler are among the top favourites for WRC2 victory at the upcoming ADAC Rallye Deutschland (17–20/08/2017). If one of its factory drivers finishes at least fifth ŠKODA Motorsport is the prematurely winner of the FIA Team Championship in WRC2. In addition, Pontus Tidemand has match point for the WRC2 driver’s title. He has to score fourth or higher, at the same time main rival Teemu Suninen must not win the category.

    WRC Poland: Tidemand increases WRC2 lead, debut win for OC Veiby

    For the eighth time in a row in 2017 a ŠKODA FABIA R5 team won a round of the World Rally Championship. At Rally Poland, current Asia Pacific Rally Championship leaders Ole Christian Veiby / Stig Rune Skjaermœn, driving a Printsport entered ŠKODA FABIA R5, achieved their first win on World Rally Championship level. After already winning four WRC2 events this season ŠKODA Motorsport’s Pontus Tidemand and co-driver Jonas Andersson came second. With a WRC2 championship lead of 50 points they are now in best position to win this year’s title.

    WRC Poland: ŠKODA dominating WRC2

    Two ŠKODA FABIA R5 teams are clearly dominating the WRC2 category at the eighth round of the World Rally Championship in Poland. Asia Pacific Rally Championship leaders Ole Christian Veiby / Stig Rune Skjaermœn, driving a Printsport entered ŠKODA FABIA R5, delivered a faultless and fast ride through the demanding gravel stages of the Masurian Lake District. ŠKODA Motorsport’s Pontus Tidemand and co-driver Jonas Andersson are chasing their stablemates from second, concentrating mainly on avoiding unnecessary risks in order to gain valuable points in their bid for the World Rally Championship title (WRC2). Both ŠKODA teams suffered punctures but were never in danger to lose the double lead in WRC2.

Norwegian youngster team Ole Christian Veiby / Stig Rune Skjaermœn in the private Printsport ŠKODA FABIA R5 are leading with 5.1 seconds ahead of the factory team Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson. The talented Veiby currently is leading the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) for MRF ŠKODA. With a win at Rallye Poland he could move into second overall of the WRC2 championship standings. Tidemand on the other hand could gain valuable points in his pursuit to win the World Rally Championship (WRC 2) in 2017.

    MČR Hustopeče: Jan Kopecký / Pavel Dresler scored fourth win in a row in the Czech Rally Championship

    The fourth round of the Czech Rally Championship (MČR), held in the region of South Moravia, saw a fierce competition for victory. However, the fourth win in a row for ŠKODA Motorsport factory team Jan Kopecký / Pavel Dresler was no surprise. The Czech champions only briefly lost the lead at the Rally Hustopeče, after the fourth stage when they suffered a puncture. But two stages after they moved into the lead and controlled the rally up to the finish line in Hustopeče where they were cheered by enthusiastic fans. ŠKODA teammates Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson fought back to fifth position after collecting a puncture on the last stage of the first leg.
