    WRC Argentina: Tidemand wins and takes outright lead in WRC2

    Pontus Tidemand and co-driver Jonas Andersson not only celebrated their third WRC2 win in 2017 with their ŠKODA FABIA R5, they also took over the outright lead in World Rally Championship category WRC2. On the last two legs of the event nobody was able to follow the speed of the Swedish pairing. At the finish line in Villa Carlos Paz in the west of Cordoba, Tidemand / Andersson celebrated the win with a huge margin of more than ten minutes ahead of private ŠKODA team Juan Carlos Alonso / Matias Alejandro Mercadal. Since Rally of Spain in 2016 the ŠKODA factory teams is now unbeaten for the eighth time in a row.

    APRC New Zealand: Gaurav Gill wins Rally of Whangarei ahead of OC Veiby

    ŠKODA MRF Teams Ole Christian Veiby / Stig Rune Skjaermœn and Gaurav Gill / Stéphane Prévot were engaged in a fierce battle right from the start of the Rally of Whangarei. Reigning champion Gaurav Gill, this time paired with co-driver Stéphane Prévot, was fastest on the opening short “Super Stage”. During the first leg the Norwegian rookie team Ole Christian Veiby / Stig Rune Skjaermœn took the lead. On the third but last stage, Veiby had a technical issue, after a roadside repair incurred a time penalty and dropped to second place behind teammate Gill. The two-time champion finally secured victory on the opening round of the APRC 2017.
